I learned that an epistle like Ephesians were meant to be read in one sitting, and that is apparently what the original recipients did. So, that is what I did. Ephesians 5:10 said, “finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.” Being a child of light, I am granted the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ (1:17). Knowing the love of Christ is primary, which surpasses knowledge that I may be filled with all the fullness of God (3:19). Therefore, I am able to live out this life in what is acceptable to the Lord. When I am near and intimate with Christ, I am able to understand what the will of the Lord is (5:17). I won’t grieve the Holy Spirit! (4:30). I can press on in perseverance (6:18) and withstand the fiery trials that is to come. I have the Holy Spirit, who sealed me for the day of redemption (1:13; 4:30). I have His sword, which is the word of God (6:17). I am not neglecting the rest of God’s armor. If I am going to make it to the end, I must pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. If I am going to boldly proclaim the truth that will make dead men alive, I am going to need the power of the Holy Spirit in my life through obedience and prayers. May God help my soul today.
