Journal Entry 142

As of Janurary 28th, I was going through the Morning and Evening from Charles Spurgeon. The verse was Colossians 1:28, and he quoted, “Perfect in Christ Jesus.” Spurgeon commented by saying: “Do you not feel in your own soul that perfection is not in you? Does not every day teach you that? Every tear which trickles from your eye, weeps ‘imperfection’; every sigh which bursts from your proceeds from your lip, mutters, ‘imperfection’…But amidst this sad consciousness of imperfection, here is comfort for you–you are ‘perfect in Christ Jesus.’ In God’s sight, you are ‘complete in Him.’; even now you are ‘accepted in the beloved’…

It is amazing how God providentially led me to read such encouraging words from a man of God. After a very long day of work, I utterly related to this reality. I thought I was able to go home earlier than usual today, but it did not work out in my favor. The Lord was really stretching me beyond my limits towards the very end of the shift. The patients sensed that I really wanted to go home, and I could have presented a better attitude. I do not like faking my emotions and expressions, so my face will give a good indication of stress and annoyance. The conclusion will always be: Christ is the greater nurse.
